My visit to the (Men Hurt Too) event

A few weeks ago, June 7th 2014 to be precise. I and a sister of mine got the opportunity to attend DVWMT gathering "Men Hurt Too" breakfast, with host @Queen Afi. From the title of the program, I will admit, it sounded some what comical to me. Truth was, I and the rest of society's perception about men were very similar. (Men don't cry, they show no emotion, and the last thing I thought was men being abused!!!
Well when your told knowledge is power... Believe it. I learned so much during the program. I got to hear REAL MEN shamelessly tell their tales of being personally abused (domestically) by their intimate partner. Some of these men were the victims, some were the abusers and other witness abusers and as a result became an abuser. After listening to these brave men talk about their relationship issues, you really see that women can be severe abusers in relationships as well. What I also admired was the personal stories of Queen Afi and her mother as they admitted to being ex-abusers to their partners. These women we're completely transparent and kept it all the way.

Things I learned

1. Abuse is triggered by both parties (not just the abuser but the victim as well.
So women our words can very deadly. Scripture says "life and death lyes I the power of your tongue". And when we are upset we know just what to say to push that LAST button watch it

2. Children will mostly likely pick up from witnessing a case of violence between their parents. And they in turn can either become VICTIMS OR the ABUSER!

3. THE ONLY WAY TO END DOMESTIC VIOLENCE IS TO EDUCATE BOTH THE VICTIM AND THE ABUSER
